I have a 2000 115 Yamaha 2 stroke. IF I try to go wide open, she cuts back to 4500 and surges. The fuel filter has never been changed. I think it is ethenal related. Any thoughts/suggestions??? Thanks ...Never had ANY problems from this motor EVER!

Have you ever replaced the fuel pump? How about have you replaced the fuel bulb on the fuel line? Another idea would be the fuel lines themselves. I'd start there and then go to the carbs.
Ethanol in the fuel could cause contamination problems in the form of water. So, do you have a fuel/water seperator?
Thanks for the reply. My friend squeezed the bulb and it was soft, so he said that may be the problem, but it has been like that since day 1 and that has been 8 years. I am going to look to look for a filter soon, how much would one cost and what are the steps to replace it... without mess? thanks
