I am in the process of buying a 40 hp etec and need some help with prop selection. The boat is a 14 ft. open aluminum fishing boat, deep v, very wide and deep boat at 340 lbs(boat only). Fishing is the principal use with slow trolling around one mph required. Weight load in boat including 2 people is about 700 lbs. The slow troll is a must but I also want to get on plane easily and have a decent top end. The dealer showed me about 8 or 10 choices for props and I have no experience with props at all. Maybe some of you more experienced guys out there have some suggestions for me. Thank you.
