I have a 2007 HPDI and the dealer said it was the same as the new 2008 series 2 engines. He said they tested all the series 2 stuff in the 07 engines before they changes the name on the engine cowl. What do you think?

BS if it dont say Series 2 on the side of the cowl its not a series 2
He is either a liar or knows nothing and should not be a Yamaha dealer. The pistons are new rings are new. Heat treated crankshaft and connecting rods new. New engine control module program. New large water separator with water sensor. New calibration oil injection system and heat treated gears. That's why 2 series are 2k more.
I got the 08 it is different!!Sound's like he's a true salesman!
I wish you good luck with your new Hammer. If I had to buy a new motor that's what I would go with the 2 series.
