    Racor filter question

    Which Racor filter/water seperator is recommended for a 2004 250HPDI? The 60gph or the 90gph. I am having contamination problems and keep finding fine particles of something in my vapor canister that eventually clogs the float/needle. I don't want to have to replace all the filters again!

    Yamaha recommends a 10 micron 90 gph filter for a motor that size.

    What does your motor do when it clogs the float? Does it run like its running out of gas?

    Yes, just slows down then eventually will die. By the time you stop and re-group it will re-start and sometime jump on plane then slow down and die, and sometime just struggle to get on plane. I already had a Racor s3227 installed and it still did it. I never saw any water or contamination in the filter bowl.

    I found about a tea spoon of and in my vapor seperator yesterday. Mine has to be doing the same thing!!!!

    I took the vapor seperator apart and found nothing in it. Filter screen on the fuel pump was clean. I flushed out the needle and seat and found nothing in it either. Re-assembled everything and now it runs like I only have half throttle and will idle but dies when I touch the hotfoot when neutral. what's up with this. I find it hard to believe that the other 2 filters are clogged. they are so expensive I hate to just shotgun them without knowing...
