to get a 28 bravo to fit on my 04 225ho i had to remove the plastic cav ring off my lu. got me wondering what the purpose for this part really is. been running a 27 gade with no problems for 2 years with it on, but what would happen if i left it off when i put my gade back on?
The cav ring only runs on the 4 blade like the gade.... Should be fine, as all 3 blades cavitate some when they break over....
It keeps the exhaust exiting through the prop on smaller barrel props letting the prop bite. In some cases taking it off would make the prop blow out on takeoff. A bass renegade prop has a smaller barrel than a Raker so there is plenty of room for the exhaust to escape outside the prop if it is removed. depending on the application some guys need the prop to spin up the rpms a little on take off so they don't use it.
Mark gets my vote here . As I don't know what the diameter of the Bravo Prop then we can get a bit more technical. What Mark says is true the barrel is smaller on the Gade and needs filling in, works great, I have found on my rig that the Raker will run good buried an inch deeper but it has an inch bigger diameter so it will run good cept' it don't like to back off too much then get back on it. It's strictly a get up and go prop.
