How often should I change plugs....which brand??

How often should I change plugs???any specific brand (NGK,etc),will old plugs affect RPM,s

I can't speak for newer Yammies but I always change them once a year and use NGK's. I was advised years ago to use NGK's for best results with a Yamaha.
