    Re: 4 stroke (cg)

That engine should be propped to run at the upper end of the max rpm range which is 6000 rpm.

BTW- how does it perform on your boat ? I assume from your post this is on a PIV.

I've been running a Yamaha F150 for almost 4 years. The Yam 4 strokes perform best in the upper rpm range, so prop accordingly.

What boat and does it have a jackplate?

I think you will very pleased with the F115 performance on the X18. An associate of mine is running an F115 on a different aluminum 18 footer with speeds in the lower 50's.

My son (nosaj2) is running a X60 witch is about the same as the X18. He is running a F150 on it and getting around 64 mph/gps.

I've wondered if there was some relation.

    Re: 4 stroke (PSM207)

I hit the limiter at 6200 with a 19K on an SX-180... recommended from the book at 5000 - 6000 ...Yamaha Tech guy told me I could run up to 6200 all day.... I like it best around 5800-6000... as far as gas mileage goes.... once you get over about 57-5800 you should hear a little "whistle" that tells you your mileage just went down exponentially... I average about 7-9 mpg...

It will rev limit at 6150. (tach may show 6200) You should prop it to be able to run it at 6000 easily.

    Re: 4 stroke (cg)

You should be very happy with that Yamaha 4 stroke. I just traded my 99 Pantera III /200 Opti for a 2004 Crestliner 17'2" 1750CMV with a F115 Yamaha.

I loved my BassCat but that Opti was worrying me. One of the cylinders only had 85 # when all the rest were 95-105. I guess the dealer didn't mind since he did the compression check before we traded. It was alot of boat for me to handle since I usually fish alone during the week. Which also means, no one to share the fuel costs

I will tell you though, this little Crestliner has a ride I wouldn't have believed if I didn't see it firsthand. And that Yammie engine is sweet. At 6000 rpm, it doesn't even sound like it's breathing hard.
