Yammie Outboard maintanence and warranty.

What's the real deal on yammie and their warranty. The fine print says things about a certified dealer doing maint. or the warrranty will be voided. I have an 2006 HPDI 225 and have about 15 hours on it. I did change the lower unit oil myself after 10 hours and clean the spark plugs. Do i need to bring it to dealer for a "Check-up" to maintain my warranty????? I saw the heads are supposed to be re-tourqued after 10 hours is this so???
My dealer is about 200 miles away and i don't feel like i need to bring it to him to change foot oil or plugs!!!!!

Yamaha uses common sense for customers like you and I who have to travel a long way to get good service. I have had very good experience with Yamaha's warranty while never going back to my original dealer but taking care of regular scheduled maintenance. If you end up with a problem, when you take it in they will run diagnostics on your motor for specific problems to be identified at certain points in the life of your motor and then they will have that dealer send them every possible detail, even photos if necessary. Bottom line, if you take care of your motor, a trained mechanic will find this obvious and you will be taken care of. If you don't take care of it, it would not be fair to expect Yamaha to pick up the tab for those mistakes, especially since they are a "for profit" company.
