    popping fuses on my vmax

    Guys,
While installing a new battery for my boat I accidentally crossed the wires. Yikes! I lost power to my starter and trim tilt. I found where the popped fuse was on the motor and replaced the fuse (a thin piece of metal). Everything worked fine. Then I went fishing and noticed that the motor had a hard time idling but whenever I turned the key it started up right away. I loaded the boat on the trailer and as I was putting on my transom saver using the trim tilt button on the motor, I lost power to my starter and trim tilt buttons. I checked the fuse box on the motor again and the same one popped. Anyone know why this would be happening? I have a 2003 yamaha vmax that is a 200hp with 93 hours on the motor. Also, anyone recommed a good place to order these new fuses?

Thanks for you help. This is getting a little frustrating!

It is happening because you most likely damaged some wire when you reversed the cables. The entire wiring harness should be inspected / tested.
