    Oil Transfer (VMax 150)

My 2003 VMax 150 is not pumping/transferring oil from the tank to the engine reservior. Any suggestions for a novice mechanic to look at before taking it into the shop? Any suggestions would be appreciated as the shop is running 2 weeks out for repairs.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Re: Oil Transfer (X19DM)

Can you hear the pump kick on? If so there maybe something blocking the line. If you can't hear it kicking on then look under the cowling, you will have a black box (oil control unit) with a switch on it thats mounted close to the engine oil tank that will have wires running up into the float on the tank. Turn the key to the on position and flip the switch thats on the oil control unit and see if it pumps. This switch is a manual over ride to the pump. I had a similar situation happen with a older Yamaha I had except it was pumping and not shutting off. It turned out to be that relay box.
