    F225 4-stroke on Ranger boat?

OK, I know you lucky guys with 100% pure ranger bass boats read the topic title, dropped your coffee mug and hesitated to click on the link for fear of what you might read but here is the deal.... I have a 210 Ranger Reata (family comprimize - at least I got one )

Having had unresolved issues with my 225 OX66 , Yamaha is finally working with me directly . An option suggested was to hang an F225 4stroke on my boat .

I am concidoring the F225 4-stoke for my 210 Ranger Reata. Yamaha says it will require a jackplate due to the design of the transom and the F225's 25" shaft length which is 5" longer than the OX66.

Any thoughts on gains or losses with this setup - F225 with Jackplate?

The only way I would agree with it would be if the deal didn't become final until I was able to test it and get it dialed in.

    What about a 225 HPDI?

My thought...It is going to look funny as heck with that motor cowl sitting 5" higher than your current motor since the F225 only comes as a 25". Look at how your motor sits now. Imagine the top of the cowl now 5" higher, do you think it will be in the way? Might also upset the balance of the boat with that much motor sitting that much higher on the transom.

Good point Jerry - and as for the HPDI, I mentioned it, but Yamaha kept pushing the F225, I guess I'm so tired of the 1.5 year battle, I'm just trying to close it.

    Grant,
the looks are a minor issue to me, as far as sitting bow high, I don't notice any problems when myself and another fishing partner are both on the back, but then again, never really paid extrememly close attention to that

I think I'll call Ranger Monday as suggested.
