    Carbon Guard

I went to pick up some decarbonizing spray for my 200 Johnson 225 H.O. and the counter person told me to use 1 bottle of the Evinrude/Johnson Carbon guard for 1/2 tank of gas in the Stratos and try another one next time I fill up.
On the back though it say's to use 1 oz per 8 gallons of fuel.

She said that unless I've decarboned before I would be better off usng this and I would be very surprised how much carbon will come out of it.

What does everyone think about this stuff and would it hurt to put the whole bottle into approx 30 gallons of gas?

    Thanks,

Carbon Guard is a good product, but it is to help prevent carbon buildup, not clean out the combustion chambers. It is designed to be mixed 1 oz. to 8 gal. of gas.

The Engine Tuner spray is for quick cleaning of the combustion chambers.

She told me that I'd probably see what looked like gear case oil coming out from the motor after using it. ( Carbon )

No the carbon guard will not do that. Like SH says, it is a fuel treatment/additive to the fuel. It will not decarb your motor. The only thing that will is Engine Tuner.
