    V8 400 xs

I was just looking at the new 7 Marine V8 557 H.P. and it made me think that Mercury should cast a V8 block using existing 300 XS components... It would be a bit over 4 litres and have over 400 hp. yet not weigh even as much as a Verado 250...

Been suggested.... pretty high up the line, too.

There would be a few potential challenges, however (adequate PCM drivers, adequate air compressor volume, and of course- the obvious recasting of crankshafts and blocks).

Who knows.... maybe Racing R&D will pick the idea up...

I gotta admit that the "557" is a true engineering work of art. You have to respect the talent that went into creating that master piece, my hats off the the 7 Marine crew for there efforts to think outside the box so to speak........
