    1979 Evinrude 150 Lower Unit

Anyone know where I might find a lower unit casing for a 1979 Evinrude 150. Model 150949C Ser J0002515. A friend of mine is needing one and can't seem to find the right one. The dealers in his area say is motor is unique in that the lower unit is one inch shorter than what the book calls for. He has a 25" shaft.

If he can't help you then maybe I can. I have the correct gearcase but you'll have to get the stuck gears out of it yourself. I was going to use it for a high speed case because it is shorter and the skeg is wider. Set up with the right nose cone and the carrier pinned this makes a fine surfacing case that is capable of triple digit speeds. I have another short case on my superflow motor but it is the small skeg model. This case has been in the 90's several times.

    Craig,

I spoke with Eddie and gave my friend his number. Friend is shipping him his lower unit. Eddie believes he can help. He does seem to be a real nice guy.

Thanks for the help. Now if I can just find someone to get the miss out of my 175 Ficht.

    Craig,

I know. I've had a few IM with him and would like to get it up to Nashville but tournament season has started. I hope the miss just works itself out. Have had all kinds of work done on this engine and two different shops work on it here in Memphis. Keep my eye on the tach and water pressure guage. Don't want another blow piston.
