    Looking for brush

Any help on getting the SI and DI to pick up brush better? I have tried turning the sensitivity up but I can't get brush to show especially on SI.

    running 455
    2D sensitivity= 9
    SI sensitivity= 10
    DI sensitivity= 11
    Speed= 3
    Hard bottom (clay/rock)

When your around hard bottom its a little more difficult to see the actual brush and stumps. I look for the shadows when im scanning hard bottom area's.

I'm not fond of the Ambers as they are hotter colors and tend to hide details like brush easier.

The color makes sense on the SI but why am I not seeing the brush on DI even when I turn the sensitivity way up?

2D look perfect on the second pic but If I was just running DI and SI I'd never see it.

I have the same issue with my DI and, sometimes, my SI. No matter how I adjust the settings (e.g. Sensitivity) it just doesn't "see" stuff on the bottom as clearly as my 83/200 down sonar does. Part of this issue may be related to the size of the image on the SI and DI screens. If you have it set for 50 feet instead of 150 feet the fish or brush or whatever may be a lot easier to see.

The DI view has the same range setting as the 2D view, so the DI image is the same size as the 2D image. Yes, using a shorter SI range setting will show stuff larger.
Another thing is the amount of time a subject is in the sonar pulse.
2D covers a 360 wide area and the Imaging beams cover very little front to back, so as the Imaging pulse passes over an object, the screen scroll speed has to be fast enough to "draw" that return while the sonar pulse is on the object for such a short time.
With 2D, the sonar pulse in on an object for a much longer period of time as compared to an Imaging pulse.
If you want small stuff to show up better with Imaging, go slower and use a faster screen scroll speed.

A 2D image of an object is exaggerated in length across the display since it is within the sonar pulse for a longer period of time. That exaggeration is why fish are drawn as arches in 2D.

wanye good read and i have to agree. i recently discovered on my 798 that i get a better SI return with just that a little higher chart speed. now im trying to figure out distance from top of screen to bottom at a given chart speed & boat idle is around 3mph.

I was wondering the same thing this weekend: what "length" of water/shoreline does the height of my display equal?

I would think you could scroll the cursor strait down to the bottom and it would show you the distance in the "Distance" box at the top of the screen.
