late 1990's 200hp suzi

Hi All

I'm wondering what the late 1990's model (say 1998) 200 hp efi 2 stroke suzuki's were like. Reliable? economical? quiet?

They were the motor rigged standard when new on my favorite type of boat. If I want that type of boat second hand, it will probably come with a 200hp suzuki.

Those Suzuki's were extremely reliable and very strong. Probably the best and most reliable oil injection of all the motors of that time. Those engines were as quiet as any EFI of those days but are not as quiet as the newer engines with DFI. As far as economy is concerned they drank gas like a pig at wide open throttle, but all the engines back then did, too. I would not hesitate to purchase that engine after a mechanic gave it a good look over. It should give you years of trouble free service.

What sort of hourly fuel consumption would you expect on an 18 ft ski boat for just normal running around, constant throttle (not towing tubes)

I have no idea what hourly consumption would be but you would not be any worse then any other brand EFI of that era. The dependability of the Suzuki would be equal or better then the other brands in my opinion. Sorry but I don't have any more information then that.
