Need advice on swapping from a 95 200 efi to a 98 150 merc

My 1995 Mercury 200 efi xri just put a rod through the power head! I have found a 1998 150 Merc for a great deal but it haS NO CONTROLS OR PROP. Need to know if the wiring harness will hook rt up and if the prop shaft is the same size as my 200? Also wanted to know if the lower units are imterchangable? I had a Johnson 150 before and made it into a 175 by just changing the lower unit! Motor had same bore and stroke the only difference in the 2 was the gearing in the lower unit! Is this the same for the mercury 150 and 200? I have noticed that most parts on a 1992-2000 model 200 and 150 hp are the same. Am I rt about all this or just wishing? Any info from someone that knows would be greatly appreciated! Don't want to waste a 3 hour drive for nothing to go get the 150. Thanks!

Yes same harness same propshaft..You'll just need to drop pitch otherwise everything should be good to go to swap.. Now as for the same other than gear housing ratios..I'm no OMC expert but I'm fairly sure there is more difference in them as there is with the Merc's. There are many differences between a 150 & 200 Mercs..
