    Don, question about regulators

Don, I have a 1997 175 EFI S/N 0G637252, the regulator bullets connectors on the yellow and red wires show burn spots form over heating. I tied to get new bullet connectors from a dealer, all they had was the plain crimp on type, with the standard red, blue, and yellow plastic ends. The parts man at the counter didn't have a clue about the clear plastic cover for them. They want $185.00 each for the regulators. The regs I got are charging, at least form what I can tell, volt gauge and death finder shows around 13 volts when running around 4000 to 5000 rpms. I don't know about the current, so I guess 1 of the regulators could be bad. I know in the pass I have had to jump the starting battery and let the boat charge the battery. From what I read on the forum that is a no no and I assume that's what cause the burnt spots on the connectors. Long story for wanting to know what I can get reulators, bullets connectors, and cover for? Thanks

Re: Don, question about regulators (BuddyT)

The Merc VR's MSRP is $179.17 each. The Clear bullet insulators are .43 ea. the bullet connectors are .56 for both the male & female and the small clear insulator on the male bullet are .43 ea. Both Don & I offer BBC member discounts on these and we both have them in stock....Sherm

Re: Don, question about regulators (BuddyT)

I tested the regulators and stator today, regulators tested good with 2 different digital multimeters, but stator tested bad. the test when checking between the 2 short yellow wires and the 2 long yellows wires show show on continuity between them, doen't matter which pair are tested. The short to ground test was good. So what can I get a stator for, Mercury parts show near $500.00, are they that high?

    Thanks

    Buddy:

Mercury Parts Express does usually show the MSRP for Parts and Accessories.

As Sherm stated above, he (or we) offer BBC members a discount on Parts and Accessories (orders over $100).

Email or Phone are the BEST means of contacting the Parts Department(s) for pricing, availability, and ordering.

We don't "normally" post pricing... as Mercury's Prices are updated EVERY MONDAY (that would be a lot of extra work going back through posts and repricing every item you'd ever given a price for).

Why not contact Sherm directly... and give him first dibs on your business?
