'98 200 efi rebuild

Ive got no compression on one cylinder- motor is 14 years old never had a problem.. finally blew it saturday in a tournament.. Everything looks ok and motor sounds like crap at idle. question is; can I have that cylinder bored and sleeved? Generally how much does this cost compared to reman powerhead? Any suggestions? Of course no warranty so its out of my pocket.

    thanks,

    Chad

Chad,a proper reman on your powerhead, all cyls bored, all new pistons, rings bearings, and assorted small parts should run 3000$,includes cleaning the injectors(Brucato),every thing else done in house. We do several a week, and are quite good at it,additional 600$ will buy you milled heads, cleaned up casting flaws throughout the block and intake/exhaust,composite reeds, etc.I can arrange shipping and we always water test run the powerhead before returning, great warrantee, give a call,Chris

Contact Jay Smith (over on the 2.5L High Performance Board).

He's the best when it comes to 2.5L builds (and performance).

Thanks guys for the inuput. Im going to keep those contacts with me as I find out more. Thinking of first testing all cylinders for compression and pulling head on that side to examine extent of scoring damage, if any. So far all I've done is put my thumb over plug hole to find no compression on that one cylinder, lol.

    Thanks again,

    Chad

That's a logical plan of attack.
