Solid Core VS Carbon Core Spark plug wires

Which ones are better ? to be use on a merc 2.5, 200, carb ponny ?

On my Pro Marine set ( looking at the center of the cable adn it's a carbon core ) I check the continuity of those cables (6ea.)with my multimeter and
there was no BEEP at the tester.

I'm thinking if a set of Solid Core would produce a better spark ??!!

Type of plug wire utilized (or recommended) will vary, based on the ignition system type used.

In some cases (such as CDM ignition), a semi-conductor plug wire will result in a STRONGER spark.

Not recommended that wires be changed to a different design, as it may result in excessive strain on the ignition system, and/or altered firing (potentially resulting in pre-ignition or detonation).

Engine serial number is the BEST identifier for the appropriate plug wires.

It's a MERC 2.5 , 200 hp, 1993 , carb, 16 amps engine .

I do NOT recommend semi-conductor wires for ADI ignition engines.

The correct plug wire kit is Part# 813715A9

Why ADI ignition preffer the Solid Core wires ?? Due to RFI ??

Today, most aftermarket ignition wires are made with a Ferrite inner core wire, not copper or stainless core like the OMC´s ones

Semi-conductor wires provide additional resistance (as their name implies).

This can (to a certain point) result in a stronger spark at the spark plug.

However.... the output of the coil must be taken into account also.

ADI ignition is a Mercury design (specifically)- and although many use semiconductor wires (aftermarket)- it's best to retain the designed wires (and intended resistance values) unless there is a modification that REQUIRES some variance to enable a proper burn of fuel.

Additional resistance in the plug wire can cause undue stress to the ignition system... much like using an incorrect, or improperly gapped spark plug.
