    2002 Merc 150 XR6 High water pressure

I have not used my boat at all much this year. Went out last weekend fun fishing and noticed the needle on the pressure gauge climbing over the typical 15psi at around 4000-4500 rpm's. Any ideas as to what this could be..............stuck t-stats, poppet valve or crud in the circulating system? Motor is peeing did not have alarms go off everything seems to be running fine!!!

    Thanks,
    Dan

High high over but your only concern would be pressure at idle and WOT that it reach 15-18. If impeller was recently changed it'll be even higher than that.

Dan- one other very important question:

Does the water pressure gauge ZERO when the engine is OFF? If not... you need a new gauge (it's lying to you).

Might want to install a "tee" behind the gauge... with a line dropped down below the dash that you can plug (or open). OPEN the plug in freezing weather to prevent freezing/gauge damage.

You're welcome Dan, happy fishing soon. I'm leaving tomorrow for a week on the pontoon boat myself (finally).

Picture of the face of the gauge will do the trick.
