    tach

Whats the best way to check to make sure mine is working properly? 97 merc 175 efi. Also should I have a rev limiter? I have ran my tach up to 6000+/- 100 rpm but never hit a rev limiter? Unless its un noticble?

    Re: tach (boohya1)

No ignition rev-limiter on this model.

The ECU will richen the fuel delivery at approximately 6000 RPM's, however.

An Inductive Pickup Tachometer is the BEST means of verifying your tach.

Many mid-to-high end timing lights are equipped with this feature.
