Make sure you have a full charge on your battery and the battery is rated for the amount of amps needed for your motor.
What motor do you have?
Suggested steps:
-LOAD TEST the battery. Confirm it meets the requirements for your engine.
-CLEAN battery cable ends.
-Connect ENGINE CABLES FIRST- remaining lugs "largest to smallest", and finish the connection with a Stainless LOCKNUT (do NOT use wing-nuts).
Then see what happens- will be glad to assist further if necessary.![]()

Appreciate the help, battery is good had it checked again. Also cleaned and double checked all connections and made sure all the main wires had power. Didnt get too far with it today because of this silly snow in midland, but hopefully tomorrow is a warmer one. This is what the motor is doing and sounding like now, thanks for any other suggestions
Check the battery cable connections AT THE ENGINE. Positive terminal on starter solenoid- ground cable where it attaches to the block.
Additionally (and IMPORTANT)- Verify that the small black ground cable to the starter solenoid has a good, solid connection on BOTH ends. Actually disconnect both ends and clean them WELL, ensuring the connections are tight when reconnected.
What were the results of the battery load test? (Specific numbers)
