    Testing Remote Oil Sender

What type of resistance is required when testing the oil level sensor on the remote tank?? Is there any way to test this circuit to ensure its working properly??? Everything else works but that. I've did some searching and read utilizing a paperclip between the two wires going to the sender but just want to be sure. Would like to know what kind of resistance to know if the sender went bad.

Re: Testing Remote Oil Sender (Offshore 1)

The sensor in the remote oil tank has a resistance range of approximately 33-240 ohms.

    33 ohms at FULL
    240 ohms at EMPTY

Blue w/black stripe wire on the Fuel/Oil harness connects to one side of the sender.... remaining terminal of sender goes to BATTERY GROUND. Absolutely no other wires, connectors, or circuits should be tied in under ANY circumstances.

Note: The float in the remote oil tank is DIRECTIONAL. It must point LENGTHWISE in the oil tank. ANY other orientation will cause the float to hang in the tank, and will prevent the sender from operating properly (recommend paint-marking the tank and cap while the sender is out, so as to ensure it's oriented properly after assemble). DO NOT rotate the pickup tube cap after assembly.

When setting up the tank in Smartcraft- USE THE DEFAULT CALIBRATION for OIL TANK.
