MercMonitor Station 2

I hate to keep bugging Don with this, so I'll post here and maybe somebody knows. On my new boat, it came with the Mercury System Monitor tach and speedo (not system links). It did not come with a MercMonitor. I added a level 2 MercMonitor but can't for the life of me get the system monitor gauges to recognize as 'station 2'. I have the MercMonitor set as station 1, have done a master reset on this device (with system monitors disconnected), but everytime I power up the system monitors, they still say station 1 (even after master resets on them)!

Don gave me some tricks to unplug it during the auto detect but that didn't seem to help either. When they're all station 1, it sees the engine just fine but the GPS/NMEA features don't make it 'back' to the system monitors (time, speed, etc.). The MercMonitor grabs all that info from the network just fine. I'm about the just dump them and replace them with system links but hate to do that if it's an easy fix.

The level 2 MercMonitor is awesome! It exports all my engine data (including gas and oil levels) to my HDS units for display! Can't catch any fish, gotta have something to play with!

I did the same thing. I had the sc1000 tach and every thing else was system links (speed, water press,temp, trim). I added the level 2 merc monitor to it and couldnt get my tack to go to station 2. What I ended up doing is running all of my system link gauges of the merc monitor and calibrating the sc1000 and merc monitor at the same time. It works fine like that and I havent had any problems with it. I like it this way because I was use to looking at the tach for trim angle and waterpressure when testing props. I did go ahead and network the monitor to my hds so my system link speed reads of the gps signal from my lowrance. Like you I really like this merc monitor.

It's been great talking with both of you.

It does appear that there is a "mismatch" in the programs between the System Tach & Speed, and the MercMonitor (as you'll recall, we discussed that each of these is essentially designed to be a stand-alone Smartcraft System).

We're SUPPOSED to be able to get the System Tach/Speed system to recognize that the MercMonitor is latched as the MASTER instrument, allowing the Tach/Speed to operate as a "Slave- or Station 2" instrument.

Apparently doesn't work currently... I've passed this along to the appropriate parties to be looked into in future updates.

It should not prevent you from utilizing them, however... as they simply seem to ignore one another (on the Can Network).
