    2 alarms when turning key

I have an 07 Merc. Opti 250XS and when I turn the key I get a beep which is normal. However, sometimes I get a 2nd beep when I turn the key further to crank the motor. It doesnt do it all the time and I am curious what that alarm is for. Is it low voltage or something?

Probably low voltage. Check conections on the cranking battery and also make sure you battery is powerful enough for your motor. Look at this post in the comonly asked question above http://www.bbcboards.net/zerot...st-in. Don will be along to give you a lot more info and help you figure it out

I relplaced the battery with the Cabelas 27 series AGM battery. It still does it sometimes

I think that battery did not meet the requirements put out by mercury. If you will read on the post I posted about the cabellas battery Don has posted It doesn't quite meet the requirements. He will be along and might ay the same thing OR he might know of some other problems to look for. Anyway Good luck

Yep, I fell into the same trap as it was listed on the page but there is a little note which states the Cabelas group 24 & 27 did not meet advertised MCA's.

Yes I see that, but they did meet Mercury requirements.

I personally don't recommend that battery personally.

Aside from that... does this occur ONLY on the first cold startup? If so... it's likely that the ONLY fault being registered is a "Neutral Overspeed" (with NO TPS INPUT to account for it).

This was proven to be a calibration "glitch"... and if printouts of the Freeze Frame (Fault) History prove the above to be true, no further action is really necessary.

It poses no problem with the engine's running quality, no guardian, and the calibration (especially 8M0020349- the one likely on your engine) is very stable otherwise.

If you can provide the numbers from (or a picture of) your PCM, I'd be happy to verify the calibration for you (based on your engine's serial number).

It does not occur on the 1st start up usually. It's usually later in the day and it doesnt do it every time.

That is likely low voltage. A printout of the the Freeze Frame (Fault) History (done with the Computer Diagnostic System) would help to clarify this.
