    HO, is it more marketing?

I know in the past outboard manufacturers would take their motors to the upper of the 10% variance they were allowed. With the HO line of motors, might BRP be de-tuning the regular line?

In case I don't make sense, hopefully this makes sense.

In the past a 225 put out around 245hp. With the advent of the HO series, might the regular 225 put out say around 230hp with the HO putting out around 245hp?

BTW, if they are still putting out the upper end of the 10% allowed, might the HO really just a designation for a different lower unit?

Hmm....let me see how to answer this....

    A 225 Optimax puts out 225. A 225 ProXS puts out 10% more.

The 225 HPDI was pretty weak until they cranked the rev range up to 6K. Now it puts out close to 10% more.

The 225 E-tec puts out 225. The H.O. puts out 10% more. With the ProXS and the H.O., you do get the optional lower units, but that is not the only factor in making them faster. They do have more power. If the lower unit was the only change, you could buy a 250 E-tec, swap the lower units and you'd have a 250 H.O. Right? Wrong. If you do this, you have a 225 H.O.

Does that make sense and answer any of your questions?
