im posting this for a friend. he has a 2001 proxb 250 and he has to replace the propshaft. its at the dealers shop and he was told it has a 2-piece propshaft now but they are going to replace it with a 1-piece. Does this sound right???? I told him i knew quite about this motor but i have not run into this situation or ever heard of it before. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you sure they're not speaking of the DRIVESHAFT?
Two-piece driveshafts were common in this vintage.... and it is possible to refit the gearcase with a one piece driveshaft during rebuilding (PROVIDED that the gearcase utilizes TWO driveshaft bearings in the top of the case). I would actually prefer the one-piece shaft, as it's more durable... and certainly more cost effective.

Just had that done to mine, had some pitting near the lu seals and also got a new Fatshaft prop shaft. expensive but I think worth it. I feel much more secure.
