    service manual

I would like to purchase a service manual that applies to my 2006 250xs. The genuine mercury publication is $100. Rather steep for a book in my opinion. Do I have any other alternative?

    Re: service manual (snodogg)

Snodog I have a unused factory manual that I was sent by mistake for a Mercury Racing 250XS starting sn 1E002342.
if this fits your motor IM me and I can sent it to you for $50. shopped.
I only check my IMs once a day.

You could use the above referenced manual.... essentially the same engine (with some minor electrical differences... specifically coils and drivers).

IMHO... a service manual (despite the $99.95 price tag) is an EXCELLENT investment. Think of it this way- if you save ONE HOUR LABOR in an average shop, you've essentially paid for the manual.

My S/N is 831...I just assume spend the extra $50 and have the correct manual.

    But, thanks for the offer!

When I bought my boat I bought my service manual for the reason that Don related to. Cheap investment, just to know what is what.

I know there are some various aftermarket books for certain applications ...but couldn't find one for my motor. Mercury got my 99.95... but free shipping
