Dad and I cut down one of my trees today. Huge old 4 trunk cherry, which looked like it was getting rotten in the main trunk. Nope, wood was fine of course, and probably could have cut the one bad trunk and kept the tree alive. Ran the old mccolugh saw today, that damn thing has to be 20-30lbs. Only worked about 4 1/2 hours, mostly running the saw. Office job is making me lazy I guess.
Figure I've got a good 8-10 hours left of work to do on it. Guessing this is a 80 year old tree. Bright side dad is a wood worker since he retired, and think he's going to get about 6-8 8ft logs out of this tree to make into lumber, and more turning stock than he wants. Probably make most of it into free firewood since we don't have a fireplace.
