    New Triton issues?

My fishing partner just bought a new Triton 20xs, $60K boat and of the 8 months owned it has been in for maintance(on the boat not the engine) for 3 months of it. The main issue is the gel coat the first time on the water (TOT Touny) cracks all the way across the back of the rod boxes. Many imperfections in the gel coat, emblems falling off, and a number of other things. My main question is are you guys seeing the same issues? Oh, it was one of the first boats out of the Ranger factory in Flippin, AR

I have one of the first 19XS' out of that factory. I had a couple of minor glitches but nothing like that.

Thay say they are going to make it right but how long should it take it only took 6 weeks to build the boat. He is about to give up on Triton!

    Re: New Triton issues? (cbark69)

I just took my 2011 20xs to the plant yesterday for multiple cracks to be fixed, one on passenger side of hull iss 36 inches long and i also have the crack at the back of rod box and an eight inch star burst behind driver seat (no clue what would cause that) and another small crack at passenger foot well. . hoping they make it right. my 01 tr19 only had 2 cracks at the splash well port holes. im very concerned of the long term, the boat is very nice and i want it to stay that way for years to come. . i love the ride of the boat feels like a cadillac on the water! we will see..........

I guess keeping it in the mold for a longer period of time isn't working.

Triton has had very few issues on the new boats. I would get back with my dealer, they will take care of all your problems.

Mine was requested back to the plant for the inspection and figuring out the repairs to be performed. All people involved have been very helpful through out the process.

Thanks, everyone for your response to this issue. Triton has had a good name and i hate for their reputation get tarnished. Just for those wondering i have a Triton and love it. Just hate my partner and others to have such a hassel with a new boat.

Sorry about your partner's new boat.
Like you and everybody mentioned, I trust 100% that Triton will take care of that issue.
Out of about 150 Tritons Ive imported to Japan since 1997, very few had some issues, but Triton had always provided very reasonable and fair solutions which made our customers happy.

I'm dealing with carpet coming loose on the padded areas of the front deck of my new 2012 21HP that I just bought in March. Triton is taking care of it, but it requires recarpeting my entire front deck, lids, etc. (something that should definitely not have to happen on a brand new boat!). I also had the new badge style emblems come off. Replacements weren't any better, so we replaced them with the old style Triton emblems. The last couple of times I've been out, I've felt the floor over the gas tank area flex some when I stepped off the deck. I only weigh 190. I haven't had a chance to get with my dealer on this yet. I don't know how much of a problem the flexing is, but I don't like it. I love the way this boat handles and performs, but after just getting out of a Ranger, I am less than satisfied with the general quality of my Triton.

And it was built by Ranger folks, I have a couple of issues, one of them is my rub rail, there is about a half inch gap between it and the hull for about five feet, it is at the rear of boat, just noticed it yesterday, it is all secure but I don't like it. looks like a screw up to me, will have dealer take a look, not paying that much money for something that looks like they made a mistake and just improvised.

I used my Ranger as a reference because it was really well put together with great fit and finish. I never had any issues with the boat. My only complaint was that it was slow. I knew going in to the Triton purchase that they were not quite as plush as the Rangers, but close. I'm fine with that, I just don't want pieces to start peeling off and carpet coming up a month after I bring it home. I would be dissatisfied with any brand that did that including Ranger. I love the HP hull design and have not a single issue with the level of performance it gives. I just wish it had been put together with a higher level of craftsmanship.

working at a ranger dealer for years, we seen new boats come back all the time for major repairs, especially front deck carpet problems. most of the time the carpet was loose before the boats were bought, and were redone before sold. im sure as soon as your dealer fixes these small problems, you will be good to go! awesome job on your boat choice by the way! the new 21hp is a beautiful ride!

Thanks King. Maybe I got lucky with my Ranger. I'm thinking they must have finished up my 21HP on a Friday. I'm hoping the issues with my boat will be put to bed soon. Thankfully my dealer is great to work with. No regrets in my choice of boats. If nothing else, they got the hull right on mine because it flys. Tuesday in this Florida heat I hit 77.8 gps by myself with the 54 gal tank slap full and boat full of gear. I don't think there is a conventional style bass boat out there that will perform any better than a 21HP, and thats why I went with it. Just a little frustrated on the cosmetic issues of my particular boat, but hopefully not for long!

I believe that you have to thank our govenment because the chemicals aren't chemicals anymore. Meaning I see a lot of things that use to last that simply don't know because of the change of what is in the product. I'm sure the boating industry can tell the difference in the so call better chemicals over the old chemicals. Thanks EPA.
