    Upgrade

How hard is it to upgrade a optimax to a proxs or can it be done. 2007 optimax to a PROXS? Does it make since.

    1. It's technically illegal to modify the Emissions or Horspower Footprint of an EPA rated engine.

    2. Aside from that, to accomplish what you're entertaining, you would need to change (at least- depending on what 2007 you have):

    -Block (or cylinder sleeves)
    -Cylinder Heads
    -Reeds
    -Direct Injectors
    -Fuel Rails
    -PCM
    -Air Compressor
    -Multiple Air Lines

    (just to name a few).

Although they "look" similar from the exterior, they are VERY different engines.

    Hello,
I have the same question. Looking at a boat that this has supposedly been done on. How do I know if it has been done right? Especially for someone who does not have a ton of mechanical knowledge.

You will essentially have to rely an the reputation of the person you're getting it from, VISUALLY confirm via a parts list used, etc.

It's very unlikely that a seller is going to allow you to tear it all apart to "inspect"....

Thats a lot of $$$ for parts to spend for an upgrade. Just for grins I would ask him how much it cost them to upgrade.
