I guess this is an admission

I'm getting old and decrepit or old and lazy. One of the two. I decided I was tired of climbing in and out of the boat and since I fish alone most of the time, I had to get a better way of doing it. I had to redo my winch support anyway, so I had an angle iron added to support a step and a 1" pipe added for a handle. I can get up and down the boat with ease now. I've been trying to get the wife to use the pole for dancing, but for some reason, she hasn't exactly jumped at the idea. Now I just have to figure out what finish to put on the welds and black iron. The rest of the trailer is galvanized. I'm thinking of putting some of the roll-on bedliner. I'm hoping it would be more durable than paint.

That is a good idea! Whatever it takes to get on the water. The roll on bed liner would probably work well to seal the metal.

You could have just sprayed it with cold galvanized. It holds up well on something like that. Added drive on's to my old trailer years ago and it still looks good.

I may try that. Cold gal doesn't hold up worth a chit offshore. Didn't think it would here, either.

It's soft so if it were in an area where you'd get some rubbing it probably would'nt hold up but just on a brace it'll do pretty good.

Nice I like it. As a side note paint and coatings are my business and if you prep it right the galvanizing will work. It doesnt matter what you put on it just do the proper prep work and it will last.
