07 250 Pro XS Burning up coils.

This thing has begun to be a nightmare.Merc and marina are doing the correct protocol and am very thankful of it.

Just trying to see if anyone has had anything similar to this so I can help speed up the process.I have 3 days to get it back or loose my money for a tournament Ive entered.

The powerhead has been replaced last year and has less than 40 hours on it and a total of only 149 on everything. Coils have been replaced, wiring harness and # 1 coil replaced today. They started the engine and let it run for 5 minutes, were fixing to lake test it when it went to skipping again.Checked for faults and its throwing no codes at all but it burnt #1 coil up again in that time period and thats the one it keeps burning. All coils have been replaced also. Coil was even overnighted to Merc today for analysis.

Its just a weird problem and was just wondering if anyone had this or heard of it before.

    Thanks for any help.

Do you happen to know the number that was printed on the face of that coil they installed today?

    Was Service Bulletin 2009-026 consulted/applied?

Repeat problems on same cylinder, or different cylinders each time?

I can tell you that if more than one fails on the same cylinder (new style coil).... something OUTSIDE the coil is likely at fault (grounds, harness, coil harness connector, fuse, drivers in the PCM, etc).

Covington, Ga.... hmmmn. If only you were up here....

Odds are about 99:1 that the problem is NOT the ignition coil. Someone will need to take the time to test the engine harness via a break-out box (with appropriate wiring diagrams).

Ask your dealer if they referenced Service Bulletin 2009-026 in Mercury's Electronic System (MercNet).

If all else fails... we'll be glad to get it corrected for you here.
