My dad has a 1996 johnson faststrike on a 18ft. stratos. The motor has very low miles and not abused at all. Regular maintenance. When he is idleling or letting it run in the yard on a set of water muffs, it releases an excess amount of oil and gas from the exhaust. Any idea what is causing this and what can be done to fix it.
Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Is dad premixing ala' vro disconnected? Does it fire right up on the muffs or does he have to choke it awhile to fire? Most times when I run one on the muffs, it will smoke quite a bit on initial start and then settle down after the motor is up to temp. That is normal. If you are running an EFI Merc and try and compare your's to his Don't. The OMC carbed motors will smoke on start up and that is a good thing. CM
The vro pump is still hooked up. It cranks right up and runs good but there is an excess of oil/gas in the exhaust. Maybe has been there the entire time we just never noticed. I will get his numbers and post them as well. All info. is greatly appreciated..
