Trim gauge not working. 0T306671 2001 225L EFI

Have a new to me 2001 225 EFI (0T306671), which replaced a 1999 200 EFI (OG638491). Now my trim gauge doesn't work? It flinches slightly, when key is turned on, but stays at max trim reading. Are they any tests I can run to determine if it's the gauge or trim sender? Also, would the trim sender from my old 200 EFI work on this 225? Thanks, Mick

    Yes, and should.

Follow the brown w/white stripe wire to make sure it's connected to the engine harness, AND that the engine harness to keyswitch harness connection has the brown w/white stripe wire connected.

Check the CONTINUITY GROUNDS on the midsection (lower mounts, Port side). Must be in place or trim sender won't work (later model senders have a redundant ground).
