At WOT, the Verado Pro is THIRSTY. The fact is.... when you cram supercharged air into the intake: you MUST also supply an adequate amount of fuel to match that increased air volume.

That being said.... throttle the Verado Pro back about 500-800 RPM's, and it's MUCH better on fuel (roughly comparable to the same RPM on the Optimax).

There are other considerations.... and I can tell you from experience, the quiet and remarkably smooth operation of the Verado (including DTS or Digital Throttle and Shift) is remarkable.

Don, how much do they weigh?
And can you get them with some sort of mechanical throttle instead of something electronic?

The 250 Pro weighs in at 635 lbs.

Available ONLY in DTS (digital throttle and shift) on the Verado Models.

Thanks for the info Don, I will let you know what I get on the back of the 620 or the 619 and give you some numbers but it will be a long winter here in Ontario, I will be ordering the boat in Feb to get it for spring, I had Evinrude in the past but maybe its time to go to Mercury for a change(nothing bad against evinrude it served me good in the past)

I had a 250 Verado on my 21XD Bullet. I LOVED the digital throttle and shifter. The response of the throttle was awesome and the shifting was so smooth and easy. I also loved the power steering.

How will the Verado Pro stack up against the SHO?

I suspect we're going to be seeing some "head-to-head" tests in the coming months....

Re: New Verado Pro XS (Jacques)

I have a 300 Verado on a Z522 with a 24 Mercury Tempest Plus. It tops out at 72 mph at about 6200 rpm's. In my application, the Smartcraft gauge shows the engine is using 31 gallons per hour at that speed. If I get the boat down to about 25- 30 mph., it is somewhere between 8 and 10 gallons per hour.

Re: New Verado Pro XS (MissionImpossible)

With the verado pro weighing well over a 100 pounds more than the sho it's going to have to be a beast to out preform the sho.
