Question for Don about water in lower unit

    Don,
I have a 2008 250 XS and I went to change the oil in the lower unit and when I went to drain the old oil it looked as if it was full of water. Some oil did come out but there was alot of water in the oil. I was wondering if you thought it would be covered under warranty. I thought I would bring it to you if you could fix it. What you think?

Re: Question for Don about water in lower unit (Jamie)

If your engine is under the FACTORY warranty period, and the leak is caused by a "defect in materials or workmanship", then yes- it should be covered under the factory warranty.

Highly recommend REFILLING the gearcase with gear lube IMMEDIATELY to prevent rust/corrosion from occurring.

We'll be glad to get you in any time... and keep appropriate seals/kits on hand.

    Thanks Don,

I will go ahead and fill it back up with fluid and bring it to you one day next week. Thanks again.

Better get that pressure tested to determine where the leak is! Whatever you do.... don't leave it "dry".... refill with appropriate lube promptly!
