Has anyone been lately? I have been three times in the last week and haven't caught a fish. The water is about 43 degrees and there are a bunch of little 2" shad that are dying. I'd appreciate a little help if anybody has been Thanks

Prolly a shad die-off...which leads to SUCK BUTT fishing...![]()
I would recomend a stick lure, but make sure the fuse is long enough before you lite it.If one don't work use two but you need to get twice as far away .Oh yeah, leave the big motor runnin, nothing worse than a slow starting engine when your using stickbaits.![]()
That is a good idea but I don't know if that would work with my luck
I heard that I did. I don't know about Brewer but it's sure been tough everywhere else. This cold weather has gotta go!!! Last year we were smackin em down this way at about this same time.Quachita BFL was brutal, brutal I tell ya! I saw Mark H sittin in his boat havin a soft cry![]()

At least you got to walk the stage.....about 50% of the anglers (boaters and non) zeroed. I got one bite all day and boated it....boater zeroed.
Brewer has monster brush piles out in 15-25ft of water. Problem is, either they are too deep, or I just don't know which ones hold fish?
I'd start by working a suspending jerkbait WAY WAY out off the points...and work my closer in.
And try not to worry about "trying" to figure anything out.
Just kick back, sling the lure, and make it a personal goal to see how long I could dead stick it between twitches.
Just spend more time enjoying the scenery, watching my graph, and.....just "FISHING/GOOFING OFF".
After a few hours of that, I'd idle around and look for interesting stuff on my graph...with a marker bouy laying beside me. Drop it over anything that looks interesting, back off, and try several different lures around that area.
THEN, I'd try several different lures that are in my boat....That I really don't know WHY they are in my boat....just to see if I can learn something new about a non-confidence lure, and a non-confidence "spot".
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
I'm the same way with the brushpiles. I've been three times this last week and ZERO. I think I'm gonna try to go again friday. We'll see
Just stop trying.
Tie on a pointer, start where you can cast it across a point. Sling it out there, pull it down, and then fish it just as if you were crappie fishing with a bobber.
Just act like you're trying to get a turtle to come up after it.

I think that's great advice. But man I hate jerkbaits.I guess a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.Maybe next week things will improve.![]()
you need to just wait and go in late march or early april then you might could catch a fish. gotta get'em in your zone. REAL SHALLOW.![]()

I tell ya, since they raised the water level a couple of years ago out there I've been lost! I used to know which of those brush piles held fish, but now most of the time they seem like they are too deep and the fish just dont hold on them like they did. Ive been lost out there the last couple of yearsBut for some odd reason I still love fishing that lake!
Its a great little lake. There are some big bass in that lake, if you can get one to bite. Here lately that has been quite a task.
yea, we have had a couple of 30 lb sacks in the summer.![]()
We had our first club tx out there today and it took 11 lbs to win and that was 2 fish. We had 17 boats show up and out of those 17 only 4 fish were caught, but they were good ones. 2- 5lbers 1-3 lber and an 8 1/2lber.
caught 2 fish last Thursday.........Tuff tuff day...dodging white birds diving all day at the shad dying off.....
