    Smart craft question

I have a 2001 300x. I have the small rectangle smart craft that came with my motor. It's a version 1.00 I also have another one that came with the boat it's a version 3.0. I cant for the life of me get the newer one to sync up to my motor. Is it not possible

    What's your engine's serial number?

As manufactured, your engine should be Smartcraft Compatible.

Modifications to the ECM might affect this, however.

Have to attempted to perform a MASTER RESET on the Version 3.0 instrument?

(Note: the Version 1.0 instrument has some limited capabilities... and it can't automatically identify your engine. Engine identification must be MANUALLY done on this version).

Please also confirm that your DATA CABLE has "yellow bands" on BOTH ENDS of the blue data cable.

I will check the cable. Thanks for the info. I have done the master reset. When the auto set comes up flashing I run it through the auto find and it flashes none. Telling me it's not seeing the ecu

Does it flash "none".... or does it flash "NoStb"?

    Re: Smart craft question (SUSHII)

I'm wondering if perhaps there is a possibility that the ECM on your engine is set to "some location other than Starboard Outside". This is commonly the case with engines that were at one time utilized as a left-side engine in a multi-engine application (and can even present if you have an ECM that CAME from a port side engine).

The Version 1.0 might see that engine/PCM.... whereas the 3.0 would be searching ONLY for a STB engine's PCM.

If you have a friend that has ANY Smartcraft compatible engine with Smartcraft... see if they'll let you plug your Version 3.0 into their cable and power up. If the unit sees that engine.... you indeed likely need your ECM/PCM's engine location reset to "Starboard Outside".

We had a DDT on it. I remember seeing it set as starboard just not sure if it was starboard outside. I'll have to check that again
