Headed to Arkansas for a week

Headed out to Ar. for a week to do a little fishing and for the wife to spend some time with her dad (when we aren't fishing). He has a place in Mt. Ida and we will be on Lake Quachita. I guess i need to leave my flipping stick and braided line here in Florida huh. Never fished Quachita before, but have fished Dardanelle several times. What do I need to expect? Deep and clear water or what? Also wondering is there any smallmouth population in the lake? Never caught one before and would love to. I know there are spots, and LM but wondering about the smallies. Thanks in advance. And maybe a little heads up on what to throw. I have plenty of shaky heads so I am covered there.

Wildkat, thanks for the info. We had a great time except for the 2,436 miles I drove in just over a week. All I have to say about Quachita is wow!! We caught a lot of fish mostly all largemouth but I did get my first spot. My wifes lil brother by accident caught a smallie just before we got out there. We caught most of our better fish on topwater (spooks), and the rest crank baits, and shaky heads. What an awsome fishery you all have something to be proud of. When we got through bass fishing we picked up some crickets @ Twin Creeks (those folks were great) and took the ladies and kids out. We caught everything on crickets from catfish, bluegill, spots, LM, etc. Then went to the cleaning station w/ our panfish and filet knife then headed to the Shang Ri La. We were stuffed on catfish, bream, and bluegill along with their hushpuppies. We caught one juvenile fish that we were unsure but it looked like it may have been a smallmouth due to the darker color and pattern. The one smallie my wife's 13 year old brother caught was about 2 pounds. I will IM you about where. I never got on any stripers but I was hoping but maybe next time. Again thanks for the info. I thought it was hot when I left Fl holy crap. Everyday going into Mt. Ida the bank was showing 103-104 and there was plenty of humidity. I got to work today and was telling some of the guys how hot it was the first thing I heard was yeah but its a different hot than here. My answer was bull crap. I had to help my father in law load a bunch of stuff on a trailer and to the dump, thats when I found out how hot it was. i was also hoping to run into Mark Davis but never saw him, man what a place he has.
