New commercial zones on Arkansas Lakes and Rivers. I just caught a little piece of it on the radio, but it sounded like commercial marinas are closed to fishing on corp lakes and the river. Does anyone know anything about this??

Like commercial fishing or fishing period? If that is fishing period thats not cool at all. The water those marinas are sitting in are public property. I don't like this at all.

I agree...I can see "no fishing" off docks unless you have a slip but not fishing all together...and how can they police that??...really?? I think as long as you are not harming anything, fishing is one of the least disturbing things you can do...I think PWC's and skiers are WAY worse than fishermen....just my opinion. I've seen PWC's sit outside of marinas waiting for boats to leave just so they can jump the wake.![]()
Does the submarine count? Many a time i've slipped in between it and the bank with a buzzbait. Folks look at you a little funny, but it's all part of the game.![]()
The way this talked, and like I said I didnt hear it all, but its sounded like all fishing and other activities would be prohibited within 50' of these commercial zones. This list included fishing, diving, boating(???), and maybe others. Lakes covered that I heard were: Greers, Beaver, Bull, Norfork, D'nelle, and the rest of the Arkansas River..

That is the way it is now on Norfork and most tournament rules say the same thing.I believe that the current law states that there is a 50' zone at commercial docks if that Marina has gas pumps. Most all of the marinas have signs that say no fishing within 50" but that it was unenforceable until now.Basically no change here on Norfork, there are still many non-commercial docks to fish.Still the biggest problem I see is the lack of respect by boaters for the dock owners, they dont slow down when passing the docks.Just last Saturday I was down at the docks and there was a boat fishing the dock next to the one I was on and I kept hearing these guys hitting the boats with there lures. They had a $50,000 bass Boat and I bet they would get upset if someone started crashing a jig into it.We are always finding lures snagged on the boats and motors.Privet docks could be next.
Jerkbait is right...it probably like many instances where a few percent of everyone mess it all up for everyone else. I agree...we SHOULD be VERY respectful of others boats on docks. If you can't cast well enough not to hit the boats back out or just drop shot or something...I don't have a 50,000 dollor boat...mines more like 5,000...lol. But I would have a fit if someone was hitting my boat...guys be careful with that stuff. I really doubt much will be said if you are respectful in most places. Just my 02 cents
