    Bullet 21ss question

I haven't seen or heard much talk about the 21ss. I know they supposedly "redesigned" the hull but I am trying to get the positives and negatives. I may be looking at a Bullet soon and the choice will most likely be between the 21ss and the 21 xrd. Is the 21ss a faster hull, does it ride better or worse, etc. Just looking for some expert analysis and I know this is probably the best place.

    Re: Bullet 21ss question (G-ride)

On Aril 29 at Fleet Harbor on Wilson Lake Lawrenceburg Marine will be hosting a Bullet Boat only tournament. I think they plan to have a 21SS to give demo rides and maybe some other size Bullets. Give Steve Mann a call at 931-762-0959 and he can tell you. I hope this helps.

    Re: Bullet 21ss question (G-ride)

I owned a 21xd for 17yrs and loved it. I just got me a 21ss back in October, and so far I think Im going to love it too.! There are some differences that I am going to have to get use to, like the room on the deck. But I think when I get my equipment placing figured out, it will be fine. U wont be disappointed in either one. Lots of other things too, so u can call me if u want to. Hubert Davis 409-423-0174

Re: Bullet 21ss question (hubert davis)

I have a 21xrd with 300xs. I have spent some time in Hubert's 21ss 250 Sport XS and it is very impressive. I might give the 21xrd a very slight nod on rough water ride, but not by much. I have driven Hubert's boat 91+ in 18 mph winds and it handled it very well. I agree with Hubert that you give up a little front deck space since the boat is a little shorter. The best way I can describe the SS is that it handles and has the speed of a 20 and rides more like a 21 X series. If you have driven bullets before the 21ss drives and feels different, but is a very forgiving boat.

Horsepower to horsepower the SS is going to out run the 21xrd. Right now Hubert's 21ss 250 is basically as fast as my 21xrd 300xs, and I believe we can go faster than we have been so far. Hubert's boat has run 97.0 so far and I am working with another prop right now that I think will have his boat into the 98-99 range! When you think about the fact that this is a 21 foot boat with a bone stock 250, this is just flat impressive!

    Re: Bullet 21ss question (70 Mach 1)

I really appreciate all the advice and analysis. I am going to call Paul today to get some of his advice also. I have a 2100 Gambler right now so the deck space will be kind of hard to give up if I were to go with the SS, but that speed is blazing for a stock 250. I have a 250xs (2008 model) on my G right now and am thinking seriously about keeping it to hang on the new one.

You will need to put a sportsmaster lower on your motor to see the speeds Hubert is seeing.

    Re: Bullet 21ss question (70 Mach 1)

Dad has a 21SS/250 Sport XS as well, his is 100% kevlar hull. Tom said ot weighs around 1050lbs. Dad came out of a 21xdc and a 20xrd comp hull, both had a 250 and 300xs on them. He didn't like the SS at first, but now he has spent more time in it and really likes it. I drove it to 84 @ 6000 with a 28 bravo xs....now it has a 29 hydromotive on it but ita been too windy to let it fly, he has run 88 with alot of pedal left.
