Set Up Opinions

Ok, My parts will hopefully all be here within the next week and a half but I need a little advice from you guys in the know. My Boat is a 21vee, 90 model, will be running the following set up to start. 265-70 HP 2.4 Bridgeport powerhead, EFI, Limiter set at 7700. HP is an estimate based on fuel curve while bench testing. The lower will be a coned TM from Tooter. 1:87:1 gear ratio. Theres 14 inches of set back and I was going to start even with the pad. I have 2 Props currently, a 27p Merc Chopper that looks like there was some cup added and a 27 tempest Plus. should I be looking for another prop? What top speed should I be aiming for with this rig?

I have pretty much the same thing. 1987 21vee. 2.5 w/mods (guessing 250 hp). 1.87 coned lower. 15 1/2" setback. The sweet spot for me is 1/2" above the pad. I like the choppers for hole shot and mid range, but the 28 txp ot4 gives me the best top end. I don't really know my top speed but I have turned it 6500 and it was still pulling pretty hard when I lifted. I'm pretty sure I was playing with 90. You should be able to break 90. I don't think the tempest will do very good.

Bullet's seem to like the turbo's I have a TXP-3 30pitch on my stock 04 mercury 225 efi on a 03 21XD and I ran 85.4 (GPS) and am going to test this saturday with the jack plate up another 1/2 inch and am hoping for maybe 87 according to the prop slip calculator I may hit that.. which would be amazing with that rig... Also that was with fishing load and between quarter and half tank of gas and just me...

I know the txp works well for me, but I haven't been able to really try very many props. With the horsepower he has and rpms he can turn he might be better off with a bullet cut chopper. Gonna be a fun ride

Depending on what you want out of the boat.......26p or 28p prop.

A bullet cut performer 3 or chopper will run great and carry a fishing load. A 26p TXP OT-4 would run well too.

You can run a 30p wheel if you want to, but its gonna be sluggish outta the hole. It will run good on top end though. The 2.4's don't have much torque to get the prop going outta the hole.

If its had any port work done, i would suggest a over the hub prop just so you can have a good holeshot.

I was thinking a Bullet Cut Performer 3 27p but cant seem to find thier sight on the net now. Wish I knew some local people to test a few props.

There wouldnt happen to be anyone in the Charleston area that has a 28p Performer 3 I can test run is there? I guess it will spin a 28, my stock 200 was good with a 27 chopper.
