    Holeshot Help

99 20xf w/ 225 promax sportmaster lower 1" above the pad. Prop is a 26 trophy plus with all the vents plugged off. It grabs spins up then blowout just before breakover. This sucks. I wanted to out run my buddies not run them down after blast off.

The 26P trophy has pitch problems. You could have your prop worked, But thats common when the prop has no flare on the barrel and on applications jacked up high does this.

How many revs and speed? Limiter is?

I'd try any prop you can get in your hands. Try a 25 TRO4 and a 25-26 fury lowered on the plate 1/2 inch.

You need to see if you can find a 26 or 28 Bullet Cut Chopper to run on it. A 28 was one of the best props we found to run on that combo.

Marty, your holeshot was OK, but not great as I remember you running that prop against me in my heavy arse 22 fter and slow fishing motor and slow prop.

a Pro Max is a totally different animal than what martys 200efi was..My hole shot was great with the 225 Super Mag/28BC Chopper..That was with the motor at 1.5" above..Now my 200EFI Mariner was a slug....

    Re: Holeshot Help (Bryan)

I'll get the gps numbers on here tomorrow. I need an extension cord for my lowrance. I lowered the jackplate about an inch and a quarter and it helped alot. Still needs work though. Should I open one of the vents up? This thing will only turn 6000 rpm I think. It gets there quick though. I havent ran very far at a time to see if the rpm will creep on up.

Open all the vents up and use an auto GPS if you need to.

I hate to be a pest guys. I really appreciate the help. Won't taking all the plugs out make it slip worse?

    Re: Holeshot Help (21XDC)

If I don't take my foot out of it it will blow up. I'm certain. Maybe the rev limiter will catch it a 6750? I let off at 5500 and feather it on over. Thats with all the plugs in and prop shaft below the pad. Is it spinning on the hub maybe? My 225 can't be strong enough to just blow the prop off this thing.

You might be better off with a 4 blade. Listen to these guys that had your combo.

I thought this was the prop you tested.... You need to try a cav ring on your prop. Mark Croxton sells a good one.... Look for him on the "props" page.

    Re: Holeshot Help (21XDC)

Is that a plastic ring that fits between the prop and the lower unit barrel. If so I've got that already on there. It's like it hits a power band a blows out.

    Re: Holeshot Help (xpressman al)

Yes, Thats the cav ring. You need to try a different prop. Try a 27 trophy if you can. The 26 has pitch problems. Call Mark Croxton and ask him about it.

You need to stay away from a Trophy, period. A boat that will surface the prop will make a trophy throw blades.

Find you a 4 Blade TXP. 26p with PVS holes in it. Leave all the holes open and it'll do really well.

    Re: (jowens)

i have a 21xd with 225 optimax, i had same problem with my 26 trophy, then i switched to a 27 txp, still blowed out bad before it would get on plane, to the point i thought it would just sit back down. I had all solid plugs in the vent holes, I got one of mark's rings and it is a different boat, had to take the plugs out to get it out of hole without bogging, now..no vents just marks aluminum ring and its awesome!
