    Prop Question

I'm fixing to buy a new fishing prop and I was just curious as to what you guys think.

I have a 250 Pro XS with a SM and 1.62 gears on a 20 XRD and I am either going to order a new Hydromotive Quad IV-X OB or a BC Performer 4.

I have never run a Performer and don't know what to expect as far as load carrying capabilities. For those with experience with them, will they run good with a HEAVY fishing load? I'm talking 2 people full of gas, livewells full and 200 lbs of gear. Also keep in mind that I have a 36v Minn Kota on the front and 4 batteries in the back.

If you guys have any other prop suggestions, I am not dead set on what I'm gonna order yet, so feel free to suggest any other options.

Two of my fishing buddies have your set-up.
The performer and Hydromotive props are good props.
But hey didn't like them due to having to turn 5k rpm to get out of the hole
    with a heavy fishing load.

They like the TXP 4 blade best for a fishing prop.

    Re: Prop Question (Red XRD)

get a 28 hydromotive or a 28 txp four blade with holes..the txp will be a little slower out of the hole than the hydro, but both are excellent fishing wheels

    Re: Prop Question (knight1)

I started to write this big long paragraph about comparing 4bl txp to a 4 blade performer to a 4blade lightning et on a 250 and my experincesthen I realized he has a 20 ft boat and I have a 21.

in general th txp 4blade has the best holeshot period but gives up a couple mph on top speed and my opinion is best suited for tournament fishingwith a heavy load

The pro et and 4blade performer ventilate alot on holshot and does hit 5000 rpmbut has great top en speed on a light to less than averageload

Do they have rehab for this addiction, cause I need to go!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Prop Question (rambo274)

I appreciate all of the replies. I should have mentioned that I have a 28 TXP OT4 already but the holeshot is terrible.

I just got off the phone with Todd at Hydromotive and he got me fixed up. My new Hydromotive should be here early next week.

switch over to a 1.75 gear and put a 30 or a 31 pitch,it will still take off no matter what the load is.

Yeah, my partner is running 1.75 gears with a 30p TXP and his holeshot isn't too bad. I don't have any holes in my TXP yet, gonna send it off as soon as my Hydro gets here. Have you ever had dual PVS holes put in a TXP OT4?

Some of the OT4's can't get dual pvs because the spokes are in the way.

Which ones in particular? A certain pitch? Newer/older ones?

Each one is different. They all have square bores, The spokes are all different. They may have changed this now.

    Re: Prop Question (21XDC)

10-4 I'm gonna send it to Mark in a week or two to have some holes put in it, so I'll just have him look at it and see if he can put two sets in it.
