If the motor warranty was only 3 years and has already ran out, can the extended warranty be purchased? If the power head was replaced a year ago under warranty how long of warranty is on the new powerhead? (no additional warrantys were ever purchased)

Once the factory warranty has expired, that's pretty much "it".
Any component replaced under the factory warranty "assumes" the remainder of that factory warranty (no new warranty period begins).
If you can provide your engine serial number, I'll be glad to check, and make suggestions of what (if any) options may be available.
