    Wanting to test some props

i had a post a few months back about what prop to run on my set up.( 00' 20xd 97' 225 vmax w/14" set back. mods: reeds, tuner, solid motor mounts, heads decked, no rev limiter, lwp) i'm currently running 1.81 gears 27 trophy @ 6300= 83.5 mph w/ 2 man fishing load. hole shot not so great. i ran a 27 hydromotive oxb this past weekend 6800 rpm @ 82 mph hole shot not much better. some of you recommended a 28 bravo or (i believe) a 27 txp. wondering if there was anyone in my area (gonzales, la.)willing to go test some props. i'm close to amite river & diversion canal & got a camp on belle river. i'm just trying not to spend money on a prop until i know how it runs on my boat...call me tight. i have a 26 & 27 trophy if someone would be interested in trying.
any other recommendations on props would be appreciated. thanks guys!!!

Re: Wanting to test some props (bayou bullet 20xd)

The yamahas like the txp's, But the holeshot is their weakness. I think a 28 Bravo1 with dual pvs holes and cupping added to the tips would make your best fishing prop. Mark is a master of the bravo1. Give him a try. If you dont like it, You will have no trouble selling it.

Your best bet is like your doing, trying to meet up and try some props... I like the 28 bravo and Performer 3 blades, but they have to be tuned to your boat usually..

I think you should get a good used HPDI LU with 1.75 gears.

I have a 29 ASX(TXP) you can try, but it may be hard for you to turn over 6k.

I'm not sure because I dont know how much hp your making. I think the 1.75's are worth some top end though.

If your hole shot is bad now the 1.75 gears with the HPDI lower unit will make it worse. Try the Bravo I with exhaust holes and see how you like it.

Re: Wanting to test some props (bayou bullet 20xd)

The bravo1 is not a fast prop on a bullet compared to some others and 3 blades. It sure shines as a good holeshot, fishing prop and carrying loads when vented properly.

Re: Wanting to test some props (bayou bullet 20xd)

    21xdc is spot on.......

I tested several props, 27 trophy, 26 txp, 27 txp, 28 Bravo and I chose the Bravo.......the holeshot is amazing........it is the best fishing prop in my opinion on my 21xrd w/250xs...........sure, there are faster props out there, but I fish so speed is not on the top of my list...........to each his own

thanks again Mike for all your help!

Re: Wanting to test some props (jclark408)

Way I look at it is if you can get up on plane before the other boats they are behind ya trying to play catch up, if you out accelerate and get to speed quicker they are still in your used water and trying to play catch up.. Unless it is a long run or they are 5-6 mph faster they may not ever pass ya I still haven't found an equal to my 28 Bravo, a VERY close second is my 28 performer 3 blade,, just remember neither of these props ran like this out of the box!! Both needed many tweakes and are now, in my opinion, as good as the get!!!
