I am having my Mariner 260 reworked. I am unsure on what oil to run. Amsoil, Royal Purple, Klotz Etc.Would like some suggestions on this topic.

If you can afford it your not going to beat Alisyn Oil. My 280 lived a long time on 32/1 Syn. Pennzoil....rebuilt it due to hours, nothing else.

I have heard good things about Royal Purple , so as of now that is what i am leaning towards. Thanks for your opinion!
I run 100% sythetic Pennz in my 260Was just fully modified by Jay Smith and that is what he recommended.

What ever synthetic you can afford to run all the time, and also you have to figure availability, allot of the products are hard to find if you are @ a lake and need oil.![]()

Well I use Quicksilver Synthetic Blend, Wal-Mart, AutoZone any many other chains carry it, ItÂs a good oil, good price, and available everywhere. Now don't get me wrong there are allot of good oils out there. I do believe Mercury and Quicksilver are the same, I think one bought out the other 5 or 6 years ago. And as far as scamsoil some people swear by them, not me I am a blue collar guy and can't justify spending way to much for every product. Haven't found a cheap product from them yet and I work with allot of distributors. That being said, itÂs a matter of choice whatever you prefer. I will only tell you one thing I would live by and that is Synthetic, can't go wrong. Which ever one you use they are all good just a matter of $. Mercury, Quicksilver, and Scams in mean amsoil
, Royal Purple ETC.
Keep in mind this is only my .02 worth, different strokes for different folks
Hope I helped you, and good luck on whatever you decide

BamaBoy,
Since it is a 260- Break in with 'normal' Merc/Quicksilver oil = premium plus. Once broken in switch to: 1. 100% synthetic Pennzoil or 2. Merc Performance Blend or 3. Klotz 333
It's your engine, do what you want, this is only my recommendation.
froggy
Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I am leaning towards Royal Purple @ 32/1. My engine builder Monty Skinner from Stovall Racing said hell no on the Pennz Syn. He highly recommended the Royal Purple. I am waiting on my powerhead to get back from Mercury so i have a couple of weeks to decide.![]()

Do not break-in w/sync! Rings will not seat properly. Use cheapest fossil Merc oil you can buy. Run 50 gallons or so while varying & <3.5K rpms before switchi9ng to sync.
If ya don't believe me ask Jay Smith.
