    Re: Warm up time? (bulletfast1)

I was told by my dealer when I bought my boat that warm up time is very important especially on the mercury Opti/s, pro xs and xs mota's.

When its cold at least 5 minutes, most of the time if you let it run while your partner parks the truck, or let the engine run while you park the truck if your by yourself, should be plenty of time.

Just let it idle, no sudden spike in rpms

Do they have rehab for this addiction, cause I need to go!!!!!!!!!!!

On my 300X I always let it get to 100 degrees + and don't gun it hard when on plane the first few miniutes unless the thermastates cycled while warming up, if they did then it is WOT baby!!!!!!!!!

Same here Lou! I idle out jump on pad (easy lay-over) then crusie at 3500 for a few minutes then slow ease up the RPM's. I idle in gear at most of the ramps we have to the "no wake bouy" 3-5 minutes anyway. one takes 1/4 mile but only few times a yr do we go there.

the machanic where I bought my 250xs said the only optimax that he knew of having major problems was when a guy ran it WOT and didn't let it warm up.........that makes sense given the nature of aluminum

I would always warm mine up
